Three people at the home were “severely burned” and taken by helicopter to undisclosed hospitals, Stanley said.
A subsequent wildfire prompted an evacuation call for 28 homes in the area. The Platte Canyon Fire Department was able to put out the fire and the evacuation has been lifted.
Firefighters remained on the scene late into the night, dousing hot spots and keeping an eye on the area.
The cause of the explosion is under investigation.
